It’s A Wonderful Life….year round Itinerary
Experience “It’s a Wonderful Life” year round in the hometown of Hollywood actor Jimmy Stewart. Indiana County, Pennsylvania is known as the Christmas Tree Capital of the World.
How ironic is it that Jimmy’s Stewart fame in the immortal Christmas Classic “It’s a Wonderful Life” mirrors Indiana County’s declaration as the Christmas Tree Capital of the World.
Two very unique attributes that no other place can lay claim to.
MORNING:
Arrive in Indiana, PA at The Jimmy Stewart Museum
The group will be greeted by a representative of the Indiana County Tourist Bureau. Guests will receive a Welcome Packet and Stewart Dollars. These “dollars” will be in envelopes and each person will receive a total of $10.00 to purchase a gift for the gift exchange during the Holiday Dinner this evening. The group will be told to use the dollars at either the gift shop at The Jimmy Stewart Museum or Fleming’s Christmas Tree Farm.
Hometown tour of Indiana – Jimmy Stewart’s birthplace
The tour travels past the site of where he was born, a drive-by of his boyhood home, his grandfather’s home and the statue in his honor. The group will enjoy the humorous tales of Jimmy’s life as he grew up in Indiana, PA
Tour of Jimmy Stewart Museum
In the Museum, the group will see how the town has preserved a collection of Stewart memorabilia that represents his accomplishments as an actor, military figure, a civic leader, a family man and a world citizen. The Museum is over 5,000 square feet and consists of murals, personal items from both Stewart’s movie and military careers, a gift shop and a 50 seat theater. While at the Museum, the group will view a biography of Mr. Stewart. Stewart Dollars may be used in the gift shop
Lunch at Chappy’s Place
Enjoy a home-made soup, sandwich and dessert lunch at a local family-owned restaurant
AFTERNOON:
Arrive at Fleming’s Christmas Tree Farm
Being in the Christmas Tree Capital of the World, the group will enjoy touring this local tree farm, looking for just the right tree to take back to the hotel to decorate for the evening Christmas party.
Arrive at Holiday Activity
The group will enjoy cookies and punch while decorating their live Christmas Tree and wrapping gifts for the exchange at the Holiday Party
Evening meal
Enjoy a traditional Christmas Dinner with all the trimmings and special holiday treats. Then the fun begins as gifts are exchanged and Jolly Olde St. Nick makes an appearance for some photo opportunities
This itinerary can be adjusted in several different ways. This is just a brief outline of what can be done throughout the year. If your tour takes place during our Holiday Season, other activities, such as the annual Festival of Lights event, the It’s a Wonderful Life parade, and holiday entertainment can be added to this itinerary.
This itinerary can also be expanded into a 2 or 3 day tour for your group. It could also be done as a Mystery Tour.
There are several different choices for restaurants and we are very willing to revise this sample itinerary to suit your individual group needs.
