History Comes Alive Itinerary
Underground Railroad, Blairsville, Pennsylvania
This stop is where students will learn about the history of the Underground Railroad in the area. The “A Day in the Life of an Enslaved Child” display allows for hands-on experience. The “Freedom in the Air” exhibit shows the involvement of Abolitionists who worked quietly to aid anyone seeking freedom in the North.
The group will enjoy a box lunch.
Option One: Dane Castle, Strongstown, Pennsylvania
Visit Dane Castle. Feel as though you have stepped back to the 12th-century as your cross the drawbridge and enter into the Great Hall filled with suits of armor and an assortment of weapons.
Option Two: Jimmy Stewart Museum, Indiana, Pennsylvania
The Museum is over 5,000 square feet and consists of murals, personal items from both Stewart’s movie & military careers, a gift shop and a 50 seat theater.
A complimentary backpack is given to each student.
This itinerary can be adjusted in several different ways. It can be expanded into a 2 day tour which could include other attractions and restaurants. We are very willing to revise this sample itinerary to suit the needs of your student group.
