Attracting Butterflies to Your Yard

Saturday, May 20, 2017
1:00 PM - 2:00 PM

Yellow Creek State Park, Environmental Learning Center, 170 Route 259 Hwy, Penn Run, PA 15765   Map This Location

You need more than just flowers to attract butterflies in your yard. They also need host plants for the caterpillars to feed on, so they can grow and turn into a chrysalis. Learn what host plants you can grow to attract Black Swallowtails, Painted Ladies, Fritillaries, and Monarchs, to name just a few. If you don't have a yard you can use containers on your deck or patio. A power point presentation with photos from Marcy's yard will get you excited to plant a few host plants for the caterpillars and flowers that provide nectar for the butterflies. Handouts will be provided with planting suggestions. Meet at the Environmental Learning Center. Families are welcome.
