ICTB shares exciting news and success details about the “It’s A Wonderful Life” Parade & Festival

Excerpt from their newsletter:

“The Indiana County Tourist Bureau  has been a proud sponsor for over 20 years of the “It’s A Wonderful Life” Parade & Festival, a production of Downtown Indiana and the Lucy Donnelly Memorial Fund. Thanks to the vision and hard work of Jenny Rairigh, the festival this year expanded to six weekends! The First Commonwealth Bank “It’s A Wonderful Life” Festival includes weekends from November 18th through December 23rd. ICTB provided major sponsorship for the festival, teaming with Downtown Indiana, community organizations and local merchants for an amazing schedule.

The holiday season kicked off November 18th with a Christmas-themed parade along downtown streets decorated with charming new garland and tree adorned lamp posts, sparkling buildings outlined in white lights, and our familiar Festival of Lights displays bringing together both old and new traditions. While families wandered through IRMC Park transformed into a winter wonderland village they enjoyed children’s crafts, roasting marshmallows, and hayrides. Santa capped the evening underscoring our “Christmas Tree Capital of the World” title by lighting the 30-foot live tree covered in 7,000 lights! Weekend crowds continued featuring photo ops with Santa, two of his live reindeer and a baby reindeer for children to pet. The generous support of local businesses was overwhelming including the weekend sponsorships by S&T Bank and Senior Life.

The festival continues throughout December to compliment visits to area farms for tree purchases. Along with extended downtown hours, free parking and bargains, there will be a variety of activities each weekend. Visitors should check out the full schedule of events on, or follow the festival on Face-book for updates at”
